10 techniques to grow your business with coffee machines

The activities linked to automatic coffee machines are growing year after year and the competition between companies is becoming increasingly fierce. This is why it is necessary to differentiate yourself, bring innovations in the field and offer as much value as possible to the customers of your vending machines. We present 10 techniques that, if you follow them, can take your business to the next level:

1. Use quality products!

There is no second chance, customers will return to your vending machine or reject it regardless of whether you later change the products.

What does low quality coffee mean for automatic machines? This coffee usually costs less than 23 lei/kg, is 100% robust and has a bitter taste, too strong and without aroma. How much does a portion cost you? 23 lei/140 portions = 0.16 lei.

What is a good coffee for the car? It also contains Arabica coffee in a proportion of 20-40% and has a more delicate and aromatic taste. How much does a portion cost you? 30 lei/140 portions = 0.21 lei.

Calculated per serving, the difference is small, but the effect is extremely large. If you drank a coffee you didn’t like from a machine, would you go back to drinking it again? Always test the right coffee for your customers, depending on the feedback you receive from them.

Poor quality products can cause technical problems with machines. For example, poor quality coffee may contain foreign bodies, stones, pieces of wood, etc. which will damage the coffee grinder or its other gears.

Poor quality cardboard cups can get stuck in the machine or leak, causing customer frustration. Even thin plastic cups, not treated with antistatic, can jam and compromise the functionality of the machine.

Instant coffee or other lower-quality instant products harden and can block the mixer where drinks are made.

2. Offer as different products as possible, with different prices!

Use the latest innovations such as cappuccino flavours: whisky, vanilla, hazelnut, mint, creme brulee. It deserves to always be one step ahead of the competition!

3. Don’t disappoint your customers’ expectations!

Don’t use famous brands like Lavazza, Tchibo, Jacobs, Segafredo, etc., to promote your sales until you use these products.

4. Use personalized glasses with the coffee you use!

Use the Lavazza glass if you use this coffee and the Tchibo glasses for Tchibo coffee, Covim, etc. Use the latest innovations in the sector: cardboard cups. They are personalized, unique in design and biodegradable.

5. Use appropriate payment systems!

Whatever type of money the customer has, cards or banknotes, you have to serve it. Use a token holder for cards or tokens, a bill reader, a cash register if you use intermediate prices.

6. The hygiene of the vending machine is of fundamental importance.

Put yourself in the position of the customer. Would you trust drinking coffee from a dirty vending machine? A dirty appliance creates revulsion, but can also lead to consumer protection complaints.

7. Label your vending machine, personalize it with your logo and contact details.

Customers will memorize the image of the machine and if they are satisfied they will choose you in other locations where you have machines.

8. Be prompt in solving machine operating problems when they arise!

Customers will appreciate this and this will create a sense of security when they purchase from you. Have you ever wanted a coffee but couldn’t convince the reader to accept your bill? But in the situation when you want to mix sugar and the machine did not offer you the palette? The machine accepted your credit, but doesn’t offer you coffee no matter what you do. It’s unpleasant, isn’t it? How do you get back at a frustrated customer? It would be nice if he walked away disappointed, but most of the time he damages your car.

9. Use water softeners or lime-free water.

It’s much cheaper to prevent than to repair! We analyze the costs, both service and prevention.

An anti-scale overhaul may involve the modification of some important parts such as: lower boiler, boiler resistance, resistance gaskets, boiler gasket, volumetric counter, soluble solenoid valve core, coffee solenoid valve core, soluble solenoid valve coil, coffee solenoid valve coil, assistance/production.

To prevent limescale deposits, this means using water softeners for your water filters. Prevention costs are up to 50% lower than repair costs.

10. Check the quality of your products often!

After a certain period of time, the machine must be adjusted again, taking into account the factors that influence the coffee: temperature, degree of grinding, weight or even climatic conditions (winter, summer). These differences may occur due to normal wear of the grinders, the coffee group and its components.

How to correctly adjust the coffee machine? It all depends on the coffee you use.

Please note the following Wait:

  • a short espresso must brew in 30 seconds;
  • the coffee must flow without interruptions;
  • the cream must be consistent, dense and golden (not brown or whitish);
  • the optimal amount of ground coffee for an espresso is 7 grams, no less.

We hope these tips help you grow your vending machine business and also help you differentiate yourself from the competition.
