Choose the perfect coffee in 5 simple steps

Wondering how to prepare a perfect cup of coffee, the one that will awaken your senses every morning and prepare you for the new day that begins? In addition to choosing a quality coffee, it is very important to keep in mind some rules or tips to enjoy a truly perfect, aromatic and extremely tasty cup of coffee.

Finding the perfect coffee is a true aromatic journey. Here are the most important steps to follow.

Arabica or Robusta coffee?

Between Arabica and Robusta, it’s all about flavor and caffeine. It would be better to choose a predominantly or 100% Arabica coffee because it is a superior coffee to Robusta. Robusta coffee is richer in caffeine and has a more bitter taste, while Arabica has more aromas, a more acidic and sweeter taste than Robusta.

But things are more complex than they seem. An Arabica coffee from Brazil will not resemble an Arabica coffee from Ethiopia. It’s up to you to decide what to choose, depending on your preferences. Pure, original coffees have more pronounced flavors.

Arabica coffee will also be sweeter in the mouth and will have more delicate and pleasant nuances like Robusta. It is certainly for this reason that it is the most appreciated and consumed in the world.

Coffee beans, capsules or ground?

Choose the perfect coffee in 5 simple steps

It would be better to choose coffee beans to be ground shortly before preparation, to fully enjoy their aromas.

Coffee aromas come from the essential oils contained in the coffee beans. Ground coffee loses aroma and taste at the speed of light. It would be best to store the coffee beans in an airtight container and place them in the coffee maker to grind when making coffee.

The roasting of the beans must be as recent as possible.

To enjoy the most delicious coffee, the roasting of the coffee, which will allow you to savor its aroma, must be as recent as possible. Ideally, roasted coffee should be consumed within the month or week following roasting to fully preserve all of its qualities.

A freshly roasted coffee will reveal all its true tasting qualities to you if it has been freshly roasted.

However, it must be stored away from light, in a cool, dry place and in airtight containers.

In addition to choosing and purchasing the perfect coffee, it is equally important to preserve it. It will maintain its quality and unique taste. Coffee that is not stored correctly will lose some of its flavor profile. You can read more details about proper coffee storage in this article.

However, the coffee does not have to be roasted extremely intensely

This has an important reason: the coffee will be strong, but you won’t be able to enjoy the aroma.

To determine the quality of a coffee it is essential to analyze its path, from its cultivation to its consumption. So you have many clues at hand to understand whether you have quality coffee or not. Its region, its culture, its degree of roasting, its visual aspect…

Try it, appreciate it, see what you like, what you don’t like… just like with a good wine, choosing the perfect coffee is a true adventure of tastes and senses!
