Our delicious and easy to prepare recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 strong espressos (or 60 ml of strong coffee)
  • 250 ml of milk (whole milk for a creamy consistency, vegetable for a vegan or lighter version)
  • 2 tablespoons of bitter cocoa powder or 30 g of melted dark chocolate
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar or brown sugar syrup (depending on your preference)
  • Whipped cream or whipped cream (optional, but recommended for a gourmet touch!)
  • Toppings of your choice: chocolate flakes, cocoa powder, caramel, cinnamon, marshmallow…

Steps

  1. Prepare the chocolate base
    – In the cup or small bowl, mix the cocoa powder with the sugar and a spoonful of hot water.
    – Mix until you obtain a smooth and homogeneous paste. This step is fundamental: it avoids the formation of lumps and guarantees a well-integrated chocolate flavor in the drink.
    – For a more intense and delicious result, replace the cocoa powder with melted dark chocolate (minimum 70%).
  2. Prepare the espresso
    – Prepare 1 to 2 strong espressos with your usual method: espresso machine, Italian moka or very concentrated filter coffee.
    – Pour the hot espresso directly onto the chocolate mixture.
    – Stir vigorously to completely dissolve the chocolate in the coffee. This is the basis for your mocha latte.
  3. Heat and whip the milk foam
    – Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat, without bringing it to the boil.
    – Whip to foam using the milk frother, an electric whisk or by shaking vigorously in an airtight jar.
    – For an even creamier milk, opt for whole milk or barista oat milk, which froth particularly well.
  4. Assemble the mocha milk
    – Pour the coffee-chocolate mixture into a large glass or cup.
    – Add the hot milk little by little, sliding it along a spoon to create a nice layered effect.
    – Put the milk foam on top.
  5. Add seasonings
    – Garnish as desired: a generous touch of whipped cream, dark chocolate flakes, a cloud of cocoa or a drizzle of caramel.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy without delay.

Frequently asked questions – Moka Milk

What is the difference between a mocha and a latte?

Latte is simply coffee mixed with hot milk. The mocha milk incorporates the chocolate into the preparation, giving it an additional gourmet dimension. It is closer to a chocolate cappuccino than a classic coffee.

Absolutely ! An Italian coffee maker, a very concentrated French press or even a strong filter coffee are perfect. The key is to have the coffee strong enough to balance with the chocolate.

Can you make a decaffeinated mocha?

Yes, without any problem! Simply replace the espresso with a quality decaf. The taste remains excellent and without caffeine, the whole family can enjoy it.

What time of day should you enjoy a latte?

The mocha latte can be enjoyed at any time. For breakfast to start the day well, as a gourmet break in the afternoon or in an iced version on a hot summer day. It can also easily be served on the brunch table or as an alternative to dessert.
